Clouds Cry will debut their first album, Thirst For Rain (FeverDream Records) this summer. The album fuses many different styles and reveals a wide range of influences. The haunting vocals, diverse instrumentation, and poignant lyrics blend with provocative melodies to create a truly distinctive sound.
The songwriter and lead vocalist, Mandy Campbell, has been writing songs since she was fifteen, and lyrics and poems since she was a child. She has been a Violist for sixteen years, and took Piano all throughout college. She grew up listening to classical music, 60's and 70's singer-songwriters, and Irish folk music. This background created a diverse pool of inspiration for her music and lyrics. She is also a four-time finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition ('04, '05, '06, '07).
Another profound influence is her husband, Chris Campbell. His guitar style is rich and driving, and he is an excellent performer despite the fact he only began playing guitar at eighteen. He is always pushing Mandy to higher levels of composing with his critiquing and encouragement. They have one child together, have been married five years this May, and met in 2000 in a church band. They have been playing and making music together ever since.
Mandy’s twin sister, Maggie, is the cellist and also helps with much of the arranging of Clouds Cry’s songs. She too began playing music at seven and has a degree in Cello Performance. Her creative additions and suggestions are the perfect balance to Mandy’s writing. She also lends beautiful harmonies and sings lead from time to time.
Mandy and Maggie’s older sister, Morgan is the violinist. Though she is now an architect, her natural musical talent was a continuous inspiration to her younger sisters. Her clever harmonies add the ideal touch and her violin solos are raw and powerful.
Clouds Cry was a big hit at our organizations 20th Anniversary party. We received so many wonderful email, letters, and calls about you. I don't know if the evening was perfect because you were there, or you were perfect for the evening. Anyway, hats off to Clouds Cry,...waiting for that CD and Music Video. ; ) Gary
Love you guys and Bee (and others who might not be as brave ;0), it is totally ok that you are not in Choir this year, I understand - transition is hard. I am still hoping you all won't lose EACH OTHER - family and friendships - those are the important things. Jon says "hi"!
we posted some new junk for our listeners. Melissa and I co-wrote "the dark" and we decided to record it with our new ep. Check it out if you get bored. We should get together and play some time

Honestly, any weekend other than June 21-22 is gonna be about the same as any other. Brady is in summer school, so he'll probably have to do a little bit of homework at some point, but if we know when you're coming, he van probably try to get most of it done before you get here. Summer's been hot...i pretty much hate texas. How's your puppy?
Thanks for enabling your music to be used on the profile pages...I am looking foward to owning your CD...Please let me know when it is available... Much love in Christ, †Dorian†
man...we're going to be out of town for that whole weekend...going to Mo Ranch for the family reunion. Any other weekend would work :( and yes, when you do come, I think it will be fine to bring the puppy...we need to get Lucy used to having other dogs around anyway. Let me know when you guys set an official date. Also, BJ is supposed to be in Texas june 14-22, so maybe we could all meet up somewhere.
Thanks for all the awesome comments! I will might be down in the area this next weekend! If this is the case then we should all get together for some dinner and catch up!
I cannot wait for your cd to come out. Here's where I confess to listening to your songs while doing my school work. It is so comforting to hear your voice. Love and miss you!
